cool paintings nick. but, if you want to really get good with story telling and composition, try doing a series of storyboards.

Makes you think about:
1. narrative moment,
2. lighting
3. camera direction
4. pacing

my 2 cents..

Thanks for the advice john.
I haven't really done any storyboards, but i think i'll give it a try.

Would you do the storyboards in value or in line?.. or both?

thanks again!

Hey Nick,

Np man,

Hm, I've done storyboards in both, but doesn't really make a huge difference between the two mediums.

Line work storyboards: makes you just think more linear information

Painting storyboards: makes you think more in broad shapes and lighting information

At the end your still trying to execute a good narrative shot.

When we meet up during class, I'll talk about it more in detail with you. I think you'll find it eye opening, I know I did.

Take cares man, see you soon!

Hey man,

I admire your painting style, love how clean but at the same time painterly it looks! Do you lasso tool a lot? Or how do you achieve those sharp shapes?
Cool design on the pilots helmetss btw.

Best,
David

hey david, sorry it took so long to get back to you.

Using the lasso tool is one way to get the sharp shapes. I also like to use 100% hard brushes to get sharp edges.

thanks for taking a look!
